Sunday 19 January 2020

This year, we’re running 2 sessions a month at the Everyman Cinema in Harrogate. Today is our first ‘3rd Sunday’ session and it’s great to see so many familiar faces, continuing to work on their projects as well as some new faces too. We hope that running 2 sessions every month helps our Ninjas to focus on their projects and make more progress than just once a month. So far it’s looking promising!

Game Jams

2 of our regular Ninjas have entered a Game Jam – they are getting very creative in Unity, creating games around the ‘Deep Deive’ theme. Anyone can enter – this week’s Game Jam page is here: https://itch.io/jam/weekly-game-jam-132

If you’re not quite ready to enter yet, you can keep an eye on this website and also see what games have been submitted previously to give you some ideas and encouragement: http://www.weeklygamejam.com/

Our Next Session

We’ll be back at the Everyman in just 2 weeks time, on Sunday 2 February 10am-1pm – please book your FREE places via Eventbrite using the button below or this link: https://coderdojohg.eventbrite.com/

More Events

We’re working with Harrogate Library to come up with some ideas for running some more CoderDojo sessions at the Library – these are likely to be a short burst of weekly guided sessions, focusing on a specific project. We’re hoping to run these in March so watch this space!

Yorkshire Games Festival

This event runs at the Science & Media Museum in Bradford on 8/9 February so an ideal place to get your gaming/coding fix in between our 2 February CoderDojo sessions!

There is also an opportunity to showcase your own games and get some valuable feedback – read more here: Northern Games Showcase

Coolest Projects UK

Run by the same people behind CoderDojo, this is a great opportunity to either enter your own project (there are loads of categories), or just head along to see what other projects Ninjas from other Dojos are working on – it might even inspire an idea and a future entry!

Coolest Projects UK runs over 1 day – this year it is on Saturday 4 April at The Sharp Project in Manchester – get more info here: https://coolestprojects.org/uk/

Leeds Digital Festival

Running from 20 April to 1 May there will be lots of family friendly events – worth checking out (and it doesn’t even clash with CoderDojo)! https://leedsdigitalfestival.org/
